Job Summary
The Clinical Outcomes Leader (COL) is responsible for providing advanced outcomes leadership in the integrated practice and research unit at Western Diabetes Institute (WDI) at Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU). The COL facilitates evidence-based care, improves systems processes, supports care coordination, facilitates data management, establishes an evolving risk assessment strategy, supports the patient experience, strives for ongoing quality improvement, and serves as a role model for interprofessional communication and cross-disciplinary, team-based care delivery. As a member of the WDI executive leadership team, the COL promotes the value-based model among the entire provider team.

The COL assists in design and implementation of data collection strategies, performs data aggregation, analysis and reporting, ensures data integrity and enhances information value. The COL works closely with biostatisticians and researchers from both inside and outside WesternU.

Essential Job Duties
•Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns within complex data sets.
•Provides advanced analyses of clinical outcomes, prepares comprehensive reports and presentations of findings for various target audiences.
•Acquires data from appropriate data sources and maintain databases/data systems. Works with different platforms for data collections.
•Validates and documents data sources in collaboration with WDI research team.
•Works as preceptor and research mentor for students rotating at WDI to learn about registry-based outcomes tracking and analysis.
•Acts independently to determine optimal study design and analytic procedures while ensuring timely and accurate completion of all analysis.
•Designs, develops and implements WDI-based software applications as needed to support data aggregation and analysis.
•Supports reporting requests while complying with all state and federal privacy regulations. •Serves as an integral part of the cross-disciplinary team.
•Works to develop, analyze, and interpret measures for monitoring clinical outcomes.
•Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities that foster improved patient-centered outcomes.
•Contributes to data management best practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Exceptional computer skills in Excel spreadsheets, relational databases, presentation/graphics and Microsoft Word.
•Outstanding knowledge of database design, database query languages, and Microsoft Office is essential for success in this position.
•Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong mathematics background.•Ability to manage multiple projects; strong time management/organizational skills are essential. •Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications
•Advanced degree in Epidemiology, Health Outcomes, Biostatistics or other quantitative field from an accredited university; MS, MPH, or PhD
•Three (3) years minimum experience required research and analytics; healthcare data analytics experience desirable.
•Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) data, or Registry Data preferred
•Current CA state professional licensure/certification, if required.
